This guide explains how to create new versions of a product for the management of sales, purchase, or stock transactions. Versioning allows you to add or delete product features, create new collections, and handle sub-products of composite products.
You can open version management by selecting Products > Product card > Version management.

Purpose of versioning
Multiple versions of a product can be created to enable the formation of models for individual products involved in sales, purchase, or stock transactions, or to add or delete features from existing product models, thus allowing the creation of new collections.
A new version copies the existing version's name, all product information, and attributes linked to the product, but does not automatically form models from them. After creating the version, the user can add or delete attributes from the product and form the desired new collection.
Collection versioning
A new version copies the existing attributes of the models, allowing the user to add or delete attributes and form a new collection from them.
Composite product versioning
A new version copies the existing sub-products of a composite product, but without them being set for the product. The user can then search for and set new sub-products for the product or delete existing ones.
In version management, it is important to note that only one version can be published at a time, meaning only one version can be handled in sales, purchases, or stock management at a time.
Unpublished version
The product information of an unpublished version can be managed normally without publishing the version. Unpublished products can be listed in the product listing, but their sales, purchase, and stock handling is restricted.
Creating a new version
A new version is created on the product card's "Version management" tab using the "Create new version" button.
- Open the product card and go to the "Version management" tab.
- Select the "Create new version" button.

For the new version, the following are created automatically:
- Version number
- Existing product code
- Existing product name
For the version, you can enter values that differ from the existing ones for:
- Product code
- Product name
- Default description

The version is published as follows:
- Check the "Publish this product" box (see image above, point 1).
- Press the "Create version" button (2).
- Check that the created version appears as published on the "Version management" tab (3).

Switching the published version
Publishing another version is done by clicking the "Edit" icon next to the desired version and performing the same actions as when publishing a new version. When a version is published, the previous version is automatically removed from publication.
- Open the product card's "Version management" tab.
- Select the "Edit" icon next to the desired version.
- Check the "Publish this product" box if it is not already selected.
- Save the changes, after which the new version is published and the previous version is removed from publication.
Updating product information of an unpublished version
Information of an unpublished version can be updated without having to publish it first. On the product card, there is a version menu on the right side of each tab, from which you can switch on the fly to view the information of any version. These details can then be updated normally.
- Open the product card and go to the desired tab.
- From the version menu on the right side of the tab, select the desired unpublished version.
- Update the visible product information normally.
