Content
Open the view by selecting Controller > Dashboard or Controller > Custom reports > select report > Edit report.
The Controller's Dashboard and Custom reports can be created and edited by adding various elements to the report via the Add element button. Elements can be selected as Table, Gauge, Number, or Note. This way, you can create reports that are fully tailored to your needs.
- Manage the filtering criteria for elements via the pencil icon at the top, in the same way as for reports.
- Set the filtering criteria in the report view via the three dots in the Report settings either as Report-specific or Element-specific.
- Use the same cost object filters for elements as for reports.
Table
In the table, you can choose an empty template, profit and loss statement, or balance sheet.
Editing the report
After creating the table, you can edit the report through the Edit report function. Rename the table by putting the report into edit mode.
- Change the size of the table by dragging from the bottom of the table (point 1).
- Add another table to the same view by selecting Add element (point 2).
- Change the order of the tables by dragging the table from the top left corner (point 3).
- Add account, account group, or key figure rows to the table from the Add row button (point 4).
- Change the position of rows by dragging them from the left edge.
- Delete rows by clicking the cross in front of the row. This activates the Delete rows button.
Note the following calculation rules:
- The values of account groups are calculated according to the row order.
- Key figures are calculated according to the company's specification of accounts, and the order of the rows does not affect them.
- If you move an account from one account group to another (for example, from fixed costs to variable costs), the key figure gross margin does not change.
- If you want certain accounts not to be included in the report, use your own key figures on the report (for example, “revenue”, “gross margin”) from which these accounts have been excluded.
- The ready-made key figures in Controller are calculated based on the bookkeeping specification of accounts formula. If you want to deviate from these, create your own key figures and use them in the report.
Note! If you add an account to the specification of accounts on the bookkeeping side after creating your own report:
- Add the same account manually to the already created custom report.
- The account does not automatically appear on the already created custom report by updating the report from bookkeeping.
- When you create a completely new custom report, the account is automatically on the report template.
Gauge
A gauge can be formed using various charts with the gauge type as Bar, Stacked bar, Line chart, Pie chart, or Numbers.
The data source can be either individual accounts, account groups, or key figures.
Through the three dots in the dashboard, the gauge can be printed, copied, or deleted.
- Put the entire report into edit mode via the Edit report button.
- Edit an individual gauge by selecting Edit gauge from the gauge.
- Add or remove data sources from the gauge or change the gauge type with the Edit gauge function.
- From the Show data button, choose whether the data is cumulative, whether legends are visible, and whether a helper table is added below the graph.
- Change the size of the dashboard by stretching from the bottom right corner.
- Move dashboards on the report by dragging from the drag button in the top left corner.
Number
With the element type Number, individual number views can be created for the report.
The number view can be edited in the same way as other elements.
- When you hover the mouse over the element in the report edit mode, a pencil icon and three dots are activated from which the element can be edited.
- From the pencil icon, you can change the element's information, such as cost object, period, or comparison numbers.
- A positive difference % to the comparison number is shown in green in the view, and a negative difference in red.
- NOTE! If the numbers being compared have different signs, the difference % is not shown at all.
Note
A Note can also be added as an element.
- In the note, you can write down important things for yourself directly in the report view.
- Edit the note in the same way as other elements.

Frequently asked questions
Question: How do I add a new element to the Controller Dashboard or Custom report view?
Answer: Open the desired report by selecting Controller > Dashboard or Controller > Custom reports > select report > Edit report and add an element via the Add element button by selecting Table, Gauge, Number, or Note.
Question: How do I manage the filtering criteria of elements?
Answer: Manage the filtering criteria via the pencil icon at the top. Set the filtering criteria in the report view via the three dots in the Report settings either as report-specific or element-specific. The same cost object filters apply to elements as to reports.
Question: How do I edit the structure and rows of a table?
Answer: Change the size of the table by dragging from the bottom, add new tables with the Add element button, arrange tables by dragging from the top left corner, add rows from the Add row button, move rows by dragging, and delete rows by selecting the cross in front of the row and using the Delete rows button.
Question: Why does the key figure not change even though I move an account to another account group?
Answer: The values of account groups are calculated according to the row order, but key figures are calculated according to the company's specification of accounts. The order of the rows does not affect key figures. If you move an account from one account group to another, for example from fixed costs to variable costs, the key figure “gross margin” does not change.
Question: How do I exclude certain accounts from the calculation of key figures in the report?
Answer: Use your own key figures in the report (for example, “revenue”, “gross margin”) from which these accounts have been excluded. The ready-made key figures in Controller are based on the bookkeeping specification of accounts formula, so for exceptions, create your own key figures and use them in the report.
Question: Why does a new account added to bookkeeping not appear in an already created custom report?
Answer: The new account does not automatically appear on an already created custom report. Add the account to the report manually. If you create a completely new custom report, the account is automatically on the report template.
Question: How do I edit a gauge in the report?
Answer: Put the report into edit mode with the Edit report button, select Edit gauge from the gauge, and add or remove data sources or change the gauge type. Adjust cumulative data, legends, and the helper table via the Show data button.
Question: How do I edit the data and comparison of a Number element?
Answer: Hover the mouse over the Number element in the report edit mode, use the pencil icon to change the cost object, period, or comparison numbers. A positive difference % is shown in green and a negative in red. If the numbers being compared have different signs, the difference % is not shown.
Question: How do I use the Note element in the report?
Answer: Add a Note as an element with the Add element button and write important things directly in the report view. Edit the Note in the same way as other elements.
