CONTENT
Holiday calculation method consists of Basic data and calculation formulas for Holiday pay and bonus. The calculation formulas are divided into three sections: holiday price, to be paid, and accrual. You can access the formula of an individual holiday calculation method from the list of holiday calculation methods: Payroll > Settings > Holiday calculation settings > Holiday calculation methods.
There is a separate guide for adding a new holiday calculation method. This guide explores the structure of the holiday calculation method.
Basic data
Basic data defines the identifying information of the holiday calculation method.
Settable for employees -option Determines whether the holiday calculation method is ready to be used for employees. The default selection is yes. If employees are attached to the holiday calculation method, it cannot be deactivated. Employees must first be transferred to another holiday calculation method, and then deactivation is possible.
Name is mandatory information for the holiday calculation method. Please note that there cannot be two or more calculation methods with the same name at the same time. The name is displayed on the payslip as identifying information for the Holiday pay and Holiday bonus salary type rows.
Type is determined based on the copied holiday calculation method. The type affects which formula rows the calculation method contains. The type cannot be changed; if necessary, a new holiday calculation method must be created.
Description is a free-form description text. It is displayed in the view of copying the holiday calculation method to facilitate the selection of the calculation method.
Attached employees -information indicates how many employees are currently using the holiday calculation method.
Calculation formulas
Each holiday calculation method has three similar formula sections: holiday price, to be paid, and accrual. The content of the elements under these sections varies according to the type of holiday calculation method.
Holiday price
This section defines the calculation formulas for calculating the holiday price.
Salary types considered in earnings form a calculation formula from all those salary types whose sum is desired to affect the earnings of the holiday calculation. You can edit and add new rows as needed.
Salary types considered in the divisor form a calculation formula from those salary types whose quantity is desired to affect the divisor of the holiday calculation earnings. The calculation formula is needed, for example, in holiday calculations based on average hourly or daily earnings. You can edit and add new formula rows as needed. Please note that when adding formulas, "Source of values" should be selected as "Quantity" so that the formula retrieves the piece quantity entered for the salary type, not the euro amount of the row.

In average hourly/daily pay a calculation formula is formed for the calculation of the above-mentioned sections (salary types considered in earnings and salary types considered in the divisor). The formula refers to the previously formed formulas, where the sum of salary types affecting earnings is calculated, which is divided by the sum of salary types considered in the divisor.

In the coefficient table holiday pay coefficients are given. In the comparison value range column, the number of holiday days is given, and in the value column, the corresponding coefficient.
In holiday price a calculation formula is formed using the above sections so that the result of the formula is the price of one holiday day. The formula refers, for example, to the previously formed average hourly or daily earnings, which is multiplied by the value of the coefficient table. After this, the value of the multiplication is divided by the accumulated holiday days.
In holiday bonus day price is calculated using the formula from the Holiday price.
To be paid

This section defines the calculation formulas for paying holidays. The section contains the same formula elements regardless of the type of holiday calculation method. The type of holiday calculation method is shown in parentheses after the title name. The same information is also visible on the payslip, indicating which holiday calculation method's holiday pay and bonus are paid on the salary type row.
In holiday pay, the amount of holiday pay to be paid to the employee is defined. The daily price is obtained from the above Holiday price section. The payable holiday days recorded for the pay period determine how many days of holiday pay are recorded on the payslip to be paid.

In holiday bonus the amount of holiday bonus to be paid to the employee is defined. The daily price is obtained from the above Holiday bonus day price. The payable holiday bonus days recorded for the pay period determine how many days of holiday bonus are recorded on the payslip to be paid.
Accrual

This section defines the calculation formulas for calculating the daily price of holiday pay accrual.
Salary types considered in accrual earnings form a calculation formula from all those salary types whose sum affects the earnings of holiday accrual. You can edit and add new formula rows as needed.

Salary types considered in the accrual divisor form a calculation formula from those salary types whose piece quantity affects the divisor of holiday accrual earnings. The calculation formula is needed, for example, in holiday calculations based on average hourly or daily earnings. You can edit and add new formula rows as needed. Please note that when adding formulas, "Source of values" should be "Quantity" so that the formula retrieves the piece quantity entered for the salary type, not the euro amount of the row.
In average hourly/daily pay for accrual a calculation formula is formed for the calculation of the above-mentioned sections (salary types considered in accrual earnings and salary types considered in the accrual divisor). The formula refers to the previously formed formula, where the sum of salary types affecting accrual earnings is calculated, which is divided by the sum of salary types considered in the accrual divisor.

In accrual day price a calculation formula is formed for the accrual price of one holiday day. The formula refers to the previously formed average hourly/daily pay for accrual price, which is multiplied by the coefficient corresponding to the number of holiday days accumulated in a month. The coefficient is calculated as the average of the largest coefficient in the coefficient table, which is divided by the maximum number of holiday days accumulated during the holiday accrual year.

In holiday pay accrual the amount of holiday pay to be accrued is defined. The daily price is obtained from the above Accrual day price section, and the coefficient used is the number of holiday days accumulated in a month. The number of holiday days is retrieved from the Holidays management accumulated holiday days column.

In holiday bonus accrual the amount of holiday bonus to be accrued for the employee is defined. The daily price is obtained from the above Holiday pay accrual price.
Editing formula rows
By clicking the blue title rows, you can hide or show the formula rows of that section. White formula rows can be edited as needed. A new row can be added from the "Add row" link (see image below, point 1). The formula row can be opened for editing either by double-clicking the row or by pressing the Edit -function at the end of the row (2). All formula rows of the section can be opened for editing at once from the Edit icon on the title row (3). The formula row can be deleted from the red cross (4). The four-headed arrow in front of the formula row (5) allows you to drag rows into different order.
Formulas follow the basics of mathematics regarding parentheses and order of operations (multiplication-division-addition-subtraction). When editing formula rows, please check that there are no unnecessary or duplicate calculations left in the formula. For example, two consecutive calculation rows (see image below, point 1) or a single calculation at the beginning or end of the formula (2) prevent the formula calculation.
The program will notify during the saving phase if there are errors in the formula that prevent saving. In this case, check the correctness of the formula, make the necessary changes, and save again.
Permissions
To edit the holiday calculation method, you need edit rights from the Payroll accountant's Function-specific rights in the section Management > Salary models, types, and holiday calculation methods and additionally the Payroll accountant role (P).
