This guide covers the submission of the periodic tax return in Netvisor. You can open the view by selecting Financial management > Company obligations > Submission of self-assessed taxes.

Access rights
First make sure that you have sufficient access rights to the Submission of self-assessed taxes view.
- Make sure that you have the Payroll accountant role (P).
- Make sure that in the Accounting section’s function-specific rights you have at least Edit rights for “Bookkeeping” > “VAT processing”.
If payroll is not used in the company or you do not have the Payroll accountant role, proceed as follows:
- Make sure that you have the accountant KP role.
- Make sure that you have at least Edit rights for “Bookkeeping” > “VAT processing”.
- If you only want to view the information, make sure that you have Read rights for “VAT processing”.
- Note that the accountant KP role is also required when you only have Read rights.
Submission of the declaration
The system offers ready-to-send declarations by default. To send the VAT period declaration and/or employer payment declaration, proceed as follows:
- Make sure that the company has a valid certificate.
- Select the declarations you want to send from the list.
- Press the "Send selected" button.
When the material has been successfully sent, the notification below will appear:
Note the processing of the declaration by the Tax Authority:
- When you send material from Netvisor, it is transferred immediately to the Tax Authority.
- There may be a delay before the declaration appears in OmaVero.
- According to the Tax Authority’s instructions, the information will mainly appear in OmaVero within 2–3 business days after submission.
- Especially for quarterly filers, there may be a delay before the declaration appears in OmaVero, because the declarations may not automatically be allocated to the correct tax period and may require manual processing by the Tax Authority.
Note! When sending a declaration, a phone number is a mandatory piece of information. The number is retrieved from the sender’s own basic data under My basic data.
- Open the My basic settings view.
- Add or update the phone number in the My basic data section.
- Save the changes.
As an accounting office user, you can send declarations for several client companies of the accounting office at the same time. Proceed as follows:
- First log in to the accounting office environment.
- Go to the Submission of self-assessed taxes view.
- Select multiple companies from the list:
- Hold down the CTRL key and select the desired companies with the mouse, or
- select the first company on the list, hold down the SHIFT key and select the last company on the list to select all companies in between.
- Send the selected declarations as usual.
In the Ready-to-send materials view, you can remove a declaration from the submission view:
- Press the Cancel button for the desired declaration.
- The declaration is removed from the submission view and returns to the self-assessed taxes view.

Transfer file
If the submission of the control notification is unsuccessful in Netvisor, you can create a transfer file for the ilmoitin.fi service from the Control notification view.
- Open the Control notification view.
- Tick the box in front of the notification you want.
- Press the "Process selected without sending" button.
- Select the option "create and download ilmoitin.fi transfer file".
- Save the transfer file to the desired folder on your hard drive.
- Send the transfer file manually via the ilmoitin.fi service.
When you have submitted the control notification via the ilmoitin.fi service, mark the control notification as sent in Netvisor:
- Tick the box in front of the respective control notification.
- Press the "Process selected without sending" button.
- Select "Mark declarations as sent".
Note that this button does not send any material to the Tax Authority, it only sets the declaration status to "sent". In this case, the declaration will not, for example, appear in the obligations widget on the homepage.
Archived materials
In the Submission of self-assessed taxes view, you can review declarations that have already been sent and archived.
- Open the Submission of self-assessed taxes view.
- Select "Archived" as the material status.
In the Archived view, you can verify:
- the material creation date
- the submission date
- the status.
Frequently asked questions
I have accidentally marked the periodic tax return as sent, but I need to send the declaration to the Tax Authority. How do I proceed?
Answer: If you have marked the declaration as sent and the declaration still needs to be sent to the Tax Authority, you can do a VAT lock bypass and immediately cancel the bypass. When you then create the declaration, the system will suggest the first submission of the period.
When will the sent periodic tax return appear in OmaVero?
Answer: According to the information received from the Tax Authority, the normal processing time is 2–3 business days.
What should I do if the submission of the control notification from Netvisor is unsuccessful?
Answer: Create an ilmoitin.fi transfer file from the Control notification view by selecting the notification, pressing "Process selected without sending" and selecting "create and download ilmoitin.fi transfer file". Save the file and send it manually via the ilmoitin.fi service. After this, mark the notification as sent in Netvisor by selecting "Process selected without sending" and "Mark declarations as sent".
How can I submit periodic tax returns for several client companies at once from the accounting office?
Answer: Log in to the accounting office environment, go to the Submission of self-assessed taxes view and select multiple companies from the list by holding down the CTRL key and clicking the desired companies, or by selecting the first and last company while holding down the SHIFT key. Then send the selected declarations.
How can I check the details of an already submitted periodic tax return in Netvisor?
Answer: Open the Submission of self-assessed taxes view and select "Archived" as the material status. In the Archived view, you can see the material creation date, submission date and status.
